I'd say that the #1 could go a bit higher, but the boat tends to be harder to control.  #2 right on and #3 is about right.  Of course, as Phil says, the conditions vary widely, sea state, overall weather conditions, racing or cruising?   I have to try to find this great narrative that one of the guys in fleet 8 and past national champion wrote last year.  This guy has sailed everything and for some reason keeps coming back to a C27.   I found a hard copy of it and will try to type up the relevant parts to this discussion and post later.   Chris D toy box eastport, md
