I'm going to really go off the ranch here and suggest that the tool recommendation is a function of where you are sailing. On my relatively small inland lake, I wouldn't consider carrying all that stuff that has been recommended in the different posts. I keep a small tool box with basic pliers and multi-tip screw drivers. The biggest thing for me is spare slides and connector thingies that hold the mainsail to the mast. I have had those blow out before so I never leave home without them. Most of the other stuff I take to the boat to do specific projects. Now if I were sailing all day on the great lakes or a place like the Chesapeake that would be a different matter. Then I probably wouldn't have room in the boat for any people!

As I am putting together my list of things to buy - was curious to hear any special tool reccomendations. I assume just about everything on the boat is SAE.
