I have a Garmin Mounted on the under side of the companionway hatch. I 
also have mine networked to the DSC radio, in case of distress signals, 
the GPS would send the transmission along with coordinates. Both units 
are water proof, both are visible from anywhere in the cockpit, and both 
are locked behind the companionway hatch boards.
