Listoids, I'm asking a favor here: Dont go to any trouble, but if you know, offhand, how your local PHRF OA (organizing authority) handles the question of A sails on a non-sprit boat, can you get back to me with the info and which PHRF OA you race under?
Specifically, I want to know whether your PHRF OA punishes a boat with a penalty for using both Sym sails and A sails in the same season. Ours does (PHRF of the Chesapeake) and it pissed me off to no end. In other words, you have to choose for the season whether you want to race with sym sails or A-sails and if you choose both, you get nicked for a 6 second penalty, even if the A-sail measures in OK. Some areas I know already: PHRF NE - no penalty for using both Gulf Yachting Assoc - assigns a penalty PHRF NB - no penalty (Narragansett Bay) wondering about you west coasties! all info appreciated...tf has yet another wild hair growing someplace uncomfortable. thanks and have a great evening! tf
