I don't have a wheel, but I have seen boats with spinnaker winches that were pretty far aft and you might be able to reach them from behind the wheel. I use a tiller so when I single-hand (most of the time) it is easy except when I need to adjust the sheet and steer at the same time. I have been considering adding some ST winches and an auto pilot.

I am outfitted with a wheel which I love but it creates a problem in getting to the jib winches that are forward of the wheel. Every time I tack, I have to fight to get past the wheel to winch in the jib. I was thinking about moving the winches back so that I can get to them easily but I does not look like there is enough surface to mount them with out making some sort of bracket. Has anyone ever done this or created any kind of alternative system to haul in the Jib from the back of the cockpit Ted Pinelli _____ A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
