GREAT EGRET GLOSSY IBIS SANDHILL CRANE BAIRD’S SANDPIPER STILT SANDPIPER SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER RED-NECKED PHALAROPE BLACK TERN Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 7/19: Good diversity and numbers of Shorebirds continues at Knox-Marsellus and Puddler’s Marshes. The two wet areas seen from East Road or Towpath Road.A berm seperates the two impoundments running north/south. Knox-Marsellus is on the west side and Puddler’s on the East. 12 species were noted: SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPER, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and WILSDON’S SNIPE. BLACK TERN and SANDHILL CRANE were also present. 7/22: A GLOSSY IBIS was found in Puddler’s Marsh. It has not been relocated. 7:24: A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was found at Puddler’s Marsh. New shorebirds for the week are DUNLIN and BAIRD’S SANDPIPER. 25 GREAT EGRETS were seen at May’s Point Pond. Onondaga County ------------ 7/19: GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen at a wet area on New seneca Turnpike and Lawrence Road near Skaneateles. 7/21: A SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER was seen at Dead Creek near the Seneca River west of Baldwinsville.
