Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     1/12: HERMIT THRUSH, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, NORTHERN SHRIKE and 
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW were all seen on Howland Island.
     1/13: A juvenile gray GYRFALCON was seen from East Road in the 
Knox-Marsellus, Puddlers Marsh area. It was not relocated today.
     1/14: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in the May’s Point area. 5 TRUMPTETER 
SWANS were seen at Tschache Pool. GLAUCOUS, ICELAND and LESSER BLACK-BACKED 
GULLS were seen on the north side of Rt.31 in the Mucklands. Also spotted was a 
NELSON’S GULL (Glaucous/Herring hybrid). TUNDRA SWANS were also present in 
large numbers. A juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen on a telephone pole on 
Rt.89 between Armitage and North Mays Point Roads.


Onondaga County
------------

     1/7: A GRAY CATBIRD and a WINTER WREN were spotted on the Andrews Road 
path in Dewitt. 3 juvenile BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS are still being seen on 
the Creekwalk between Bear Street and Hiawatha Boulevard near Carousel Center. 
An adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER and 2 juvenile WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were 
relocated on East Sorrell Hill Road south of Conners Road in the Town of Van 
Buren. An ICELAND GULL was seen on the ice on the Seneca River at Mercer Park 
in Baldwinsville.
     1/8: A HERMIT THRUSH was seen at the Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery near 
Elbridge.
     1/9: A WINTER WREN was seen along the Creekwalk opposite Carousel Center. 
2 WINTER WRENS and a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET were seen along the Erie Canal 
Trail near Bennet’s Corners Road in Memphis.
     1/11: The RED-HEADED WOODPECKER initially found on East Sorrell Hill Road 
in the Town of Van Buren was again seen.


Oswego County
------------

     1/7: 7 ICELAND GULLS (5 adults) and 1 GLAUCOUS GULL were seen at the lock 
in Phoenix. A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen from Rt. 481 just north of Fulton. 
COMMON LOON, RED-THROATED LOON and RED-NECKED GREBE were all seen in Oswego 
Harbor.
     1/8: 8 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen at a feeder on North Church Road in 
Boylston. 30+ BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen on Tryon Road just off Rainbow Shores 
Road.
     1/10: 60+ BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen at the intersection of Rt.3 and 
Clark Road.
     1/11: 60+ BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen on Rainbow Shores Road. A HOARY 
REDPOLL was at a feeder in Hastings.
     1/12: BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS and the HOARY REDPOLL were at the same locations. 
A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Phoenix and at Oswego. A female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE 
was found on Oneida Lake at the Big Bay Marina in Brewerton. It was relocated 
on 1/13 but was not reported today. 4 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen in a field on 
Rt.3 west of Fulton. A RED PHALAROPE was seen on Lake Ontario from Rainbow 
Shores Road.


Extralimital
------------

     The TOWNSEND’S SOLITAIRE at Sampson State Park on the east side of Seneca 
Lake (Seneca County) continues to be seen as recently as today.
