Thomas,      I am also having very similar problem, I have been trying to run Pymol on RHEL4 with an nVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 graphics card, and the hardware stereo does not work. According to REAL D the card should be able to do stereo (using an emitter with StereoEnabler, since it does not have a 3-pin mini-DIN plug). My monitor (SGI 24inch widescreen GDM-FW9011) shows the interlaced stereo image but the emitter does not properly produce a signal. The red LED of the emitter occasionally lights up, but does not stay lit.
