Sridhar, Thomas:
If I am not mistaken, the power from the VGA port on some graphics chips is not sufficient to power the emitter. We had a scenario were we tried to get stereo to work from a laptop with a FX1400 card (w/o DIN plug) and a BlueLine stereo enabler and encountered the same problem (under RHEL3 and 4). The solution was to buy a self powered emitter from Stereographics. Sorry, can't give you the part number right now, somebody else borrowed the machine, but call Stereographics, they should be able to help.
Cheers,
Carsten

Thomas,
I am also having very similar problem, I have been trying to run Pymol on RHEL4 with an nVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 graphics card, and the hardware stereo does not work. Since my computer also does not have a 3-pin mini-DIN plug, I have been using an emitter with StereoEnabler from Nuvision.
Thanks
Sridhar

Subject: [ccp4bb]: Stereo / nVIDIA Quadro FX550
Dear all,
I am having trouble setting up stereo on a linux machine (RHEL 4) with an nVIDIA Quadro FX550 graphics card.
According to REAL D the card should be able to do stereo (using an emitter with StereoEnabler, since it does not have a 3-pin mini-DIN plug). My monitor (SGI 24inch widescreen GDM-FW9011) shows the interlaced stereo image but the emitter does not properly produce a signal. The red LED of the emitter occasionally lights up, but does not stay lit. I tried various screen resolutions / refresh rate settings, none work.
If anyone out there is running stereo on this card or another nVIDIA Quadro card without 3-pin mini-DIN I would be very curious to take a look at the working /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
Thank you,
Thomas.
