The bottom line in this whole mishmash is that The folks at Adaptec know how to make
the hardware work, and so far, if one is to take in to consideration all the problems
reported with CD-RW in the news groups, Linxu programmers do not know the reverse
engineering
method to make these drives behave.

I have yet to make a coaster using the Adaptec software with my Win98se box and the LG
8024B
drive. It does TAO, and the prep. work to make drag and drop a file at a time from the
explorer.

Why with all the high powered talent in the Linux World the poor dumb end user like me
can
not
do a simple CD burn with out spending months sorting out the VERY LATEST release of
who knows what.

In the short list of why I must have the @$%& MS system is:
Quickbooks
Access 97 ( trying so hard to switch to PostgresQL / Python)
CD writing to backup and distribute my software to end users
AutoCad
USB capture for my Canon Dig. Camera
