I have a LG 8080 for 1.5 years and it works great behind a FreeCOM ATAPI/parallel port
adapter.

I ony had to create a work around to be able to write nonstandard zero pregap
Audio CD's about a year ago. As meny people seem to have problems with Direct Linux
IDE Connections, I would propose to write a bug report to the Linux kernel team and/or
check if disabling DMA helps.

BTW. DAO recording seems to always work.
