For the ATAPI drives, I have to check. For the SCSI drives, I would 
assume that the controller would be the option, and both the Adaptek 
controllers I have are either DMA or bus master, and use next to no CPU 
when doing heavy disk i/o.

I will check the setting on the ATAPI drive, I make no guess if that is 
or isn't until I look at the rc.local file.
