My Fellow Basketball Enthusiasts I have been following with intrest the exchanges between Daud and Pempho. If you asked me, I could not tell you who is a greater Basketball enthusiast between the two. I have worked and played with both these men and I can guarantee you that there is no shortage of love and intrest in the both of them. Both of them have played the game to the highest level that any Malawian has ever played and I appreciate that their concerns are valid.
A point of intrest to me is that Sozobal is facing the same problems. There is no shortage of capable,well educated individuals. You'll agree with me, Ladies and Gentlemen that Basketball is one sport that has been blessed with well educated young men and women who are capable of running the sport at any level world wide, yet so few step forward to take up positions in te various leagues. Sozobal has announced that it will hold elections on 4th Oct. To date, there have been no EOIs for the various positions. The people who complain bitterly at the ineptitude of the execs in Sozobal have not presented themselves or indeed suggested names to take up these postions.This is reminiscent of the failed Cezobal elections of which eough has already been said. My appeal to both Sozobal and Cezobal is that when these elections are announced, please register you EOI because we know that you can do it, or at least know someone who can do it. If for any reason you find that you are unable to register and the people running the league are the same ones you consuder inept or unfair, do you then have the right to complain. Positions in Basmal, and its affiliated leagues is Voluntary and non paying and often times you find yourselves using your own resources for the good of the game, but i am sure that if there were more of us stepping forward to take these positions it would ease the burden on those who have stepped up to the plate for the love of the game. Ladies and Gentlemen, I had no intention to bore you with all this rhetoric, but I thought it wise to urge, encourage, coax, strengthen even trick you into registering for these positions.. the field is large but there are a few farmers.. hence the problems.
