It's not really working for us. having kids seems to pay better than working
at Wal-Mart, and requires a lot less skill. I'd say the US is a poster child
for capitalism at it's best and our urban areas are full to the brim with
working poor and welfare families and all the other unclassified folks. I
personally have met a few women (still children themselves) that have opted
for the baby = cash plan. Between Wic, welfare, medical, Medicare, and gov't
housing it's a pretty sweet gig, from what I've observed all you have to do
is get a job every once and a while for a few months to show that you're
trying, in the meantime you live in a nice apt. for 100 a month which is
easily covered by the checks that each of the kids is bringing in.
