Lon,
A point about Waco - several independent reports showed that the Davidians
started the fires themselves. There were no flame throwers involved. Please
try to get the facts straight. I have no sympathy for a megalomaniac child
abuser - again there was a lot of evidence for that one too. They were given
ample opportunity to let the children out of the compound - but they were
sacrificed by a psychotic cult.
Lets consider real tyrannies. The Sudan for instance. This lovely country
has reinstituted slavery, and public torture. Now compare what they do to
Canada or the US. In these 2 countries where is the dictatorship or the
tyrannical oppression. Its just a perverse fantasy of the right wing in this
country. These are the same elements that fostered and encouraged McVey. It
was not Janet Reno who should be culpable for the Morrow building bombing,
but those who believe in the whole fascist dreams of black UN helicopters,
concentration camps in the Midwest etc., and those politicians who
encouraged them.
Frankly the so called patriots of the American revolution were not so great
either. During the American Revolution, about a third of the population were
against the revolution and of the rest only about a quarter supported the
revolt. Only a minority actually supported the revolution. Those who
remained loyal to the monarchy were jailed, had their property confiscated,
and were denied all rights whatsoever. The revolutionaries put the loyalists
in concentration camps. The systematic mass incarceration of people based on
their political beliefs (i.e.. concentration camps) were invented by the
revolutionaries. Ben Franklin even had his son jailed over his beliefs and
reveled in his death a couple of months later.
So it would seem that tyranny was a part of this system right from the
beginning.
regards,
larry

I'm not in any way going to agree with McVeigh's actions. But you would
have to label the men at Concord as terrorists too, along with Washington
and all of his cohorts. And they would have hung as criminals if they had
been caught (and some were).
Our government, in our name, killed almost 80 men, women, and children, in
the name of justice. Janet Reno's justice was at the end of a flame thrower
and under the treads of a tank. Whether you agree with the idea that Koresh
was a fruit loop or not, did they deserve what happened to them?
If you understand our history and know the Declaration of Indepenence, it
states that it is our duty as citizens to put down our government if it
becomes Tyrannical(tm).
To Timothy McVeigh, that tyranny had been reached. At what point would you
agree that our government would be a tyranny?
