Build or buy a cat tree house, they have sprays you can buy that will cats
away from the sofa and whatever. They can sleep and scratch the tree house
or if you don't want a tree house then buy a small sratching post and spray
it with cat sent or something.

Buy very expensive things... The probability that the cat will want to use
something as a scratching post/play toy/etc. increases exponentially with
cost.
Those cheap toys will be virtually unnoticed when a $2000 sofa exists to
romp on.
