ben

sounds like you had a good time, strange how many good memories are
associated with food. Alot of my memories are quite often related to times
when i'm eating, thought it was just me :)

I'm not 100% sure that shrimp curry is a good example of british food (even
though I think its officially the most popular food in britain), but its a
good point about british cuisine, its kind've like its social makeup,
multicultural.

Put sounds like you and your mum made a good choice, some of the best grub
to be found is good old fashioned pub grub

Thats it, 6pm i'm off to the pub!!
Enjoy your weekend
Mark

Mark-
gotta recount an English food event I still have warm memories of, tho'

in 1972 was in London for a couple of days on the way to Israel
was travelling with my mom while she was still with us
terrific adventuress, great fun to travel with

whle waiting for an afternoon tour, she said "if I wanted to eat hotel food,
I'd have stayed home"
asked the concierge if there was a working-class pub within walking distance
we went and had a pint of Watney's and a delightful shrimp curry lunch with
chutneys.
visited with some of the neighborhood blokes.
much more of a feeling of "being there".

Now i have to tell everyone about this guy i used to know, he used to eat
raw liver! with just a little "salt and pepper".

Sorry to put people off their brekkie, i felt for the good of the list, it
just had to be shared..
