You're right. It was a characterization of the belief that you have about
American sentiments right now; That we want to just go in and bomb anyone
and everyone that has a grudge against the US in order to make us feel
better.

"But then again, the American people might not be happy unless they see a
few
things blow up somewhere else, and I'm sure that the President knows this.
So..Afghanistan, Bin Laden and the Taliban are as good a target as anywhere
else, and the World probably kept them around for just this purpose. They
make the most beautiful scapegoats."

"Aprehending and arresting someone does not necessarily mean firing tomahawk
missiles into 'suspected' locations and populated areas hoping to somehow
magically kill that person, especially without proof that this was not a
concerted act by a country as a whole, but rather a group of individuals."

"All I'm saying, is that carpet bombing Afghanistan off the map which is
what
some people are saying, is not the answer."

"So quickly picking a target and bombing it off the map is the answer?"

"No, but levelling a country with innocents in it is not the answer either."

"All I'm saying is don't quickly go off and attack a country"

I agree that we shouldn't just retaliate for the sake of retaliating. But
the Government of the United States has given no such indication. The
President and his administration appears to be proceeding cautiously and
responsibly. Individual sentiments are understandable. But that is not
what a vast majority of Americans believe. In polls released this morning,
94% of Americans consider this an act of war. They also feel that the US
response should be weighed carefully and targeted at those responsible. But
I guess the American people won't be happy until we see a few things blow up
somewhere else.
