That is exactly my point as well. I seperated the SKU's from the unique
identifiers (productID, SizeID, ColorID) in the database, and now they want
to make these changes....

SKU's should always be unique, so an orange shirt and a burnt orange shirt
would have different SKU's.
That being said, it's probably not a good idea to use the sku as a record
id, because if the store decided to change the format of the sku, your
record id formats will be inconsistent.
