I actually suspect that this may be the case, though I'm not sure I
have ever said exactly that. But it doesn't matter.

My point is that the teachings of the Catholic church are not the
final moral authority. Even for me, and I was raised as a traditional
high-Latin-mass kind of Catholic.

So.

Bush's religious beliefs may be contributing to wrongs in Iraq. I
don't use the word atrocity as I was actually thinking the Holocaust
and the Rwandan massacres when I originally used the word and I don't
think we are at that level of wrong-ness in Iraq.

The largest religous organization in the world has failed to stop a
number of atrocities that were arguably within its power to or at
least impede. In addition to the above I would mention the poor
handling of pedophiles in the priesthood.

Add to that a lot of disagreement on individual issues and I'd say
religion is not the best way to argue a moral question.

When have the Hindus intervened in a single atrocity?
When have the muslims intervened in a single atrocity?
WHen have the Protestants?
The Buddhists?
When have the Anglicans?
When have the Jehovah's Witnesses intevened?

What case are you resting?

If ,as you've professed on the list before, President Bush acts out of
his Christian beliefs, then we've seen the Mother of all Interventions
on behalf of Christianity haven't we.

Furthermore the Catholic church has declined to intervene in every
single atrocity that took place in modern times. Have they not?

I rest my case.
