Maybe you are right about Catholic teaching then. I seem to remember
something to the contrary recently, but I could be wrong. As I said, I
don't really follow gay rights, and I don't feel like researching the
matter. Let's say you are right.

Whether Catholic teaching is the best guide in this issue is then
another question. While I agree that openmindedness means a
willingness to consider other points of view, I think that pointing to
one's religious beliefs should not necessarily excuse one from moral
choices.

As a Catholic child I was taught that it was a sin to not attempt to
convert the Protestants and Jews of my acquaintance.

Furthermore the Catholic church has declined to intervene in every
single atrocity that took place in modern times. Have they not?

I rest my case.

I'm remembering this from speeches made by Pope John Paul II and
missives sent to Roman Catholic churches from the Vatican.

I was baptised a Roman Catholic.

What Monique said, as far as the Roman Catholic church goes, is true.
Homosexuality, according to the Roman Catholic church, is not right and
is not to be condoned and encouraged in Society.
If one is a practicing Roman Catholic, then that is one's belief.

And unless the Jews are closeminded for their beliefs, the Hindus, and
the Protestants, then one is being unfair in labelling someone who
professes views that align to their religion's teachings as 'Close
Minded', or 'retarded'.

Being open minded does not imply Agreeing with something. It implies a
level of willingness to Understand a different point of view.

Gel,

Funny, I don't remember that coming up in my catechism. I did not
realize you were Catholic, but I suppose it is possible you know more
about Catholic teaching than I do....(?) are you remembering this from
your childhood, or what?
