I agree with you.  But in terms of getting votes...

The issue at hand is ppl don't like unpredictable outcomes.  Although we
are always at the whim of randomness, they want to feel as if they have
some sort of control.  Remember, politicians are supposed to be public
servants.  They are supposed to server our interests.  We don't want a
scenario where we vote someone in and then they start changing their mind
on issues that got them elected.

I have yet to encounter a politician that I completely agree with.  I pick
and prioritize the issues I hold most important and then hopefully "The
other stuff" he will be logical about.  Of course the "The Other Stuff"
might be issue numero uno for others.
