I was particularly taken back by the quote from Senator George Allen:
"In this situation, in my view, they should have kept their mouth shut and just said, 'We have information, trust us.' "
Riiiiiight....like anyone would trust this administration if they said that in the wake of the Iraqi intelligence mess. The Iraq debacle and it's focal point in a campaign to discredit this administration has forced this kind of situation. The right will argue "See what you made us do?", while the left will say "If you hadn't betrayed our confidence, we'd never be here".
Either way, we end up fighting each other instead of the real enemy.
