HOWEVER!
there are some simple rules:
1. There is no such thing as off the record.
2. a scoop by any other name is still worthless if you're not the first to print.
the administration needs to keep this in mind.
also, it is possible that the administration would not have to deal with the "oh yeah, prove it" attitude about security alerts if they weren't jacking with teh system all the time, with unspecified reports, etc.
