That is a dilemma. The process of declawing is not totally humane. They chop the phlange off at the first knuckle. In older cats this can result in disabling the leg. At least, this is what I've heard. best to talk to your vet about it.

But then again, it is more humane than having a cat put down because they rip up furniture, in my opinion.
