I probably would have written this sentence a bit differently... I
suspect it might pass for "correct" American english, but I'd have
used "exports" rather than "imports".
"According to the State Department, Myanmar lost an estimated $200
million in the first year of the ban on exports to the United States."
I think originally, the plan was to send "exports to" and get "imports
from", so "imports to" would be going the wrong direction.
