Franklin's statement is not BS, it is still true. Look at the history
of the French and Indian Wars during Franklin's lifetime. People were
beheaded, scalped, even eaten. Torture was common. There were
massacres of small towns and settlers along the New York and Virginia
frontiers.
In this case you may be arguing from incomplete knowledge.
