First I am not going to argue moral equivalency or anything like that, that is wrong. But soemthing we are forgetting is that for many of those from where the terrorists originate view us in the same light as we do Al Queda or Hamas etc. And to some extent they may be correct. For instance various NGO's, rightly or wrongly, estimate the civilian deaths in Iraq since the start of the current conflict to be at least 30,000 - mostly women and children. About double that in wounded. Combine those numbers with almost universal unemployment and you have almost an ideal terrorist making factory.
So you're broke, jobless and more than half pissed at the US today, especially after years of propaganda. You know your kid will never walk again because she was shot by an American helicopter (or an Israeli patrol or a Russian tank). Then someone offers you $5000 to plant a roadside bomb. Or shoot at a convoy when it drives past. What do you do. For most people the answer is obvious. The point I am making is that to some extent, we've created the situation, or at the very least been a significant party to its birth.
