The vital function of the Internet's design was that it was peer to
peer communication. The ports are explicitly there to support that
design. By blocking ports, the companies are turning into an on-demand
broadcast medium instead of a peer to peer communication network. I
would say that's a pretty vital loss.

Yes the analogy was flawed. All analogies are. But I think it does
reflect the gravity of the issue. It makes me wonder if the ACLU could
make a First Amendment case out of it.
