about 1/3rd supported the continental congress, 1/3rd  to almost one
half supported the government and the remainder were spending most of
their time ducking the bullets.

I think it may be accurate to say that many supported reform over
revolution. But the revolutionary war helped to develop such wonderful
things we now know as concentration camps and ethnic cleansing.
