> And how much of that help would stop if they accepted? What is this, f*cking high-school? I get so sick and tired of governments saying things like, "We'll only donate of they don't" or "Or aid is contingent upon your denouncement of this government," or "we won't give aid if you accept aid from them."
Retardates! It's either humanitarian aid or it isn't. What's next? Will aid from Muslim govenments only be funneled to Muslims in disaster areas? sorry, this Red Crescent band-aid won't heal a Jewish wound, you'll have to go to the Red Cross down the road? And now a UN official, no less than the under secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief called the US and other "rich" nations "stingy" with regards to aid donations (yes, donations, voluntary) as compared to GNP. Come on, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. If the US and other developed nations stop giving to humanitarian and relief causes entirely, how would those causes survive? And how many people would die? And while we're on the subject, how about if there was a little more pressure from the UN to get those donated supplies and monies to the people that actually need them? Or is it just easier to say the US and other nations aren't throwing enough money at the problem? -- will "If my life weren't funny, it would just be true; and that would just be unacceptable." - Carrie Fisher ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Silver Sponsor - RUWebby http://www.ruwebby.com Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:141050 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
