This post reminded me of a quick story:

I used to work in a lighting store and I worked with an older gentleman, 
Earl (60-65 ish).  One day right at closing time, a black dude pulled 
up.  As he was walking in, the old guy wrote something down.  After the guy 
bought whatever he came for, I asked old Earl what he wrote down.  He said 
that he wrote down the plate number of the car "just in case" the guy was 
going to rob the place.  WTF???  These are the people that need to "die 
off" (for lack of a better term, I guess).  I was so pissed off, and he 
could not for the life of him understand my point.  Different times, I 
guess......
