One thing I forgot to mention is that we also have to take into account what Bagdad and Iraq are in the minds of many people in the region. Bagdad was the seat of the original Caliphate, and the center of Islamic culture for almost 1000 years. To many in the region its the equivalent of an Egyptian Islamic army occupying Rome.
