The US media isn't some standalone institution that's not doing it's
job; in fact, it's doing it's job perfectly: providing Americans with
news they want to read.  I've heard about Japan and I'm an American
who's made media choices, so I'd say that's the American media.

If there's a finger that should be pointed, it should pointed at the
citizens.  Look at the state of education: at 4th grade our students
are number 1 in the world.  By 9th grade they've slipped to the bottom
of the heap.

We're becoming a country full of uneducated idiots who don't care
about being competitive because "we're #1".  Consequently we'd rather
read about Jessica's butt rather than news that can help us compete in
a global economy.  Extrapolate from there.

Stupid is as stupid does.
