Yeah, me too, but it also showed a cynical reality: for some reason we
can only hire idiots.

I feel that, as a country, we've forgotten how to hold people
accountable; what responsibility means.  Mr. Bush totally screwed the
pooch on WMD, Iraq, Abu Ghraib, amongst other issues yet people still
voted for him.  Now hes' repeated himself with Katrina.  Did we expect
more?  Why?

And his administration is famous for admitting no wrong doing and
holding nobody accountable - and it was rewarded for this behaviour by
our fellow Americans.  It's as if nothing is your fault if you're a
leader; the exact opposite of how it should be.

We are CYA to the extreme - all we require is some plausible way to
deny responsibility and you're off the hook.  It's shameful.

(Disclaimer: local officials failed too and we need to hold them
accountable, but the unlimate responsibility is Mr. Bush's)
