But words have power. We can use words to hurt people, either by applying or denying them. We insult by saying someone isn't a "real man" or "real woman". Don't you see that by saying it's not a "real marriage" it devalues the civil union? The people this affects, in my experience, care far less about the tax break than they do about what it means to them to get married. It implies love and togetherness and a joining that will stand the test of time. A civil union, to them, implies a half-measure -- throwing the dog a bone, so to speak. By saying that they can't get married, we're denying that they have the same capacity for love that heterosexual couples do. --Ben ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:173651 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
