Well, it's been my experience that most humans don't like change and
will resist it to the last.  Also that when faced with the
consequences of their own bad choices, they will ask for a subsidy
before they'll do the hard work of change (kids are pure in this
sense).

That being said, I'm still trying to get to the core of your
disagreement.  Tell me where I'm wrong:

You feel that regardless of how people come to need a MW job, the fact
that they are willing to take one means we should make sure they
aren't below the poverty line.  The best way to do that is by forcing
businesses to pay them more than their market worth thus giving them
the extra money they need cross the poverty line.
