Just trying figure out where you stand.  You're very worried about
taking care of people, but it doesn't seem as if you've fully
considered the ramifications of paying people what they've not earned.

BTW - Worrying about people's  careers is conservative, not liberal! 
Paying someone a wage the market doesn't support is a waste of both
vital resources: labor and capital.  And, as every good capitalist
knows, "waste impoverishes us all".

I'd like to see a win-win: the people get the skills they need to earn
more than minimum wage, and society gets a labor resource worth paying
for.
