Context and proper reading is important here. It has nothing to do with spilling of the seed and everything to do with the situation. The person in question was supposed to impregnate his dead brothers wife in his name. He 'spilled his seed' and didn't do what he was supposed to do and that's where the whole thing came from. (and yes, there's a way out of having to impregnate her). It suprises me to no end that people quote that line without putting it into its proper context.
