Do the surgery, do the rehab. In these situations, if you are relatively young, and want to remain active into your golden years...i'd highly suggest fixing the problem as best you can, as soon as you can. That means surgery and rehab. My knee surgery had me out of action for a year, but now it's stronger than it ever was before the injury.
