A quick map quest search and it would appear that I live 1229 miles/1978 
kilometers from Yellowstone... So I'm still feeling rather secure. 


I'm not currently under the potential umbrella of a Yellowstone eruption here 
in California; prevailing winds will extend it easterly. So I will just have to 
worry about quakes, the occasional flood and even the rare tornado.  

The extra 200 miles will diminish the amount of ash, but it would still 
interrupt your day.  The speculation was that enough ash would fall in Western 
Europe to stall vehicles.  Now the fact that this may not happen for millennia 
is a fairly good reason that procrastinating on that "volcano" shelter is 
probably not going to hurt you. :-)
