Johnny Damon came up in the mid-90's with the Royals as this fresh faced, clean-cut kid. He was billed as the next George Brett, the cornerstone of the Royals teams to come. He married a local girl, settled in Kansas City, and soon his wife gave birth to twins. He was the perfect face for a young organization: a great player with an attractive persona, a wife and family, community service projects galore, etc. Somewhere along the way, he decided to hire Scott Boras and go for as much money as he could get. He stated that he wanted to be a "super star", and that couldn't happen in Kansas City. When it happened in Boston, he decided that he was going to live the "super star" life...and he did. He grew that ridiculous beard, turned his back on his wife and children in order to indulge in the womanizing that goes along with a "super star" life. You love him because he's a great hitter and plays a mean center field.....I hate him because he's a money grubber who put his own selfish indulgences ahead of his family. Damon's a rich, pampered asshole in all it's ugly glory. (yeah, i know, i'm too passionate about this) > > I didn't know that they all were from KC, but that is interesting. Why > did they get traded away? Bad management? See where I'm going with > this one? ha ha! Wow....only someone who's team plays in a big market could get away with asking that question :) Dye, Beltran, and Damon all developed to the point where they were about to become stars. Kansas City can't afford to pay stars. So we trade them for the next batch of kids that we prepare to groom into stars...so that we can trade them away for the next batch of......etc etc, on and on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:179409 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
