I read about this poll. Apparently the sampling was a bit off, something like 
37% Democrat to 24% Republican used from the sample. The poll numbers are bad, 
no question, I just don't think they are worse than they were two weeks ago, 
which is what this poll seems to indicate.

There is definitely a morose mood in the country right now. And the funny thing 
is that the economy is actually doing better than it has in quite a while. The 
big hits from Katrina and Rita had a huge emotional impact, though. The 
economic impact hurt some people a lot,  but I actually think in terms of the 
overall economy the psychological impact was far worse.
