There's always a way to spin it otherwise :) And poll methodology is
a valid criticism. That's having been said, I think the poll matches
the public feeling I sense.

I don't think Mr. Bush will be able to recover his credibility without
some huge event. And with both parties.

There has been one good thing about Mr. Bush's Presidency and it
reminds me of Nick Hornby's book High Fidelity. The main character
has it pretty good with his current girlfriend but he can't see it
because he's convinced there's something better around the corner.

This is the place we were in in 2000. Most people felt we needed a
change of party - and we got it. What we discovered was the same as
Nick Hornby's character: we had it pretty damn good as it was and the
other side is no better and maybe a hell of lot worse.

So we've learned: The Republican party is no answer to policy problems.

What's need is a complete revamping of our political system:

1.) Move to 5 round instant run-off elections.
2.) Move to federally funded presidential elections with 50 in-state
debates and a set tour agenda. No private money allowed.
3.) Eliminate the Electoral College.
5.) Move to state funded congressional elections with in-county debates.
6.) Eliminate direct lobbyist-congressman contact. Lobbyists must
address Congress as a whole.
7.) Television commercials and other political ads must contain a 10
second response from a bi-partisan analysis group such as
FactCheck.org.

And some other stuff when I think about it more.
