An argument I saw elsewhere that I find useful sometimes is whether
what you are saying is still true if the religious and moral framework
requires a sacrifice of a young virgin every full moon.

Once you start to realize that there are many many other moral
frameworks out there, you realize that imposing one put the mechanism
into place which could impose a worse one. Better just keep the
givernment out of such decisions.

As for Schiavo... let's not go there; not everyone who questioned the
process was acting on an emotional basis. It was a blow for euthanasia
and involuntary euthanasia is a very severe deprivation of civil
liberties. That is what I believe happened, and yes I know you
disagree.
