Some SUVs aren't really that big, and I find them fairly attractive. As for speed, I've never really noticed that they weren't able to reach the speed limit on any road I've been on.
As for space on the road, a large Cadillac or Lincoln often takes up more space on the road than an SUV. I've also never seen a situation where the SUV caused and accident or a bottleneck.
