I have to chime in and add that I believe SUV's give drivers a false sense of security and authority. I don't get cut off very often by sedan's, but SUV's tend to just move on over into my lane......and I'm driving a 3/4 pickup. I see more "soccer mom's" multitasking in SUV's than any other vehicle (putting on makeup, talking on the cellphone, etc) but this may be more to the fact of who is driving SUV's. Also, I do think SUV's cause more accidents because of their lack of handling compared to lower to the ground cars. Usually, whenever I pass an accident that involves an SUV, the vehicle is on it's side taking up two lanes. Therefore it costs more gas money because we're all in the resulting backup created by the fool.
SUV's are a mixed blessing. Sure you can see a lot more from them, but they are inherently more unstable. Sure they're cool to look at, but they can't avoid an accident as readily as a smaller vehicle. This study shows that SUV's, with some exceptions, consistently post higher fatality rates than mid-size vehicles. http://www.highwaysafety.com/news/2005/iihs_sr_031505.pdf On 11/27/05, Gruss Gott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Nick wrote: > > I've also never seen a situation where the SUV caused and accident or a > > bottleneck. > > SUVs cause accidents because smaller cars can't see around them.
