Maybe, but I would also hope the recommend obeying the law. If the vehicle
in front of you obscures your vision, then you are supposed to give yourself
more space.

And if the vehicle in front of you has their vision out the back obscured
for some reason like a trailer, then you are supposed to give more space as
well.

Even in the case of a sedan, a small low car is not going to be able to get
great vision. 

Sure it is important to know what is going on down the road, however the car
in front of you has much more bearing than something even a few hundred
yards away. A quarter mile down the road for me involves two stop lights one
of which I can't see because of the hill.
