I am saying that until Bush the Lesser the National Guard was mobilized for floods, fires, and other natural disasters at home. Although the people I knew (former bosses) were career, it was definitely marketed as a career choice that was
1) part-time 2) something that would help the local community Neither of which is true in the Guard's current incarnation.
