I second this!  (as a Canadian that's driven in lousy snowy and icy weather 
more than a time or two) 4WD does make it a lot easier to take corners and 
navigate around in the snow and ice.

There is a difference between an SUV with 4WD and a huge 3/4 tonne truck with 
4WD and without a load in the back though... the truck will be a nightmare to 
drive while the SUV is a dream.
